ER - The Series Premiere - VHS

ER was the pioneer among hospital shows. Each week we got a realistic view of the frenzied life inside a metropolitan hospital.  The intensity and grisly subject matter of ER made its predecessors all look quite quaint.
 
Until ER, we had mostly experienced the likes of Dr. Ben Casey who showed a predictable  edginess and world-weariness as he managed his early ER.  Who could blame him for his perpetual pessimism?  It seemed each week he was treating the same  reluctant patient with the predictably urgent subdural hematoma with a brutal frankness that, at the time,  passed for "attitude".

 Our moods were lifted a few years later by the avuncular Dr. Marcus Welby who brought a happy ending to each crisis he faced with his casual, experienced bedside manner.

You'll be the first to know when the aforementioned doctors are permanently memorialized on video in the form of DVD Boxed Sets that will allow you to enjoy that earlier era where either doctor would have had to ask "What exactly is a drive-by shooting?".
